Efficiency in the Line: A Game Changer

Recently, I’ve been reflecting on how crucial station efficiency is in a busy kitchen. As a grill cook, I learned that clear communication and strategic timing can make all the difference during peak service hours. I’m eager to step up as a line chef and fully manage a station, and I’d love to hear how others have successfully improved their workflow.

It’s all about that rhythm, right? I’ve found that timing my prep with the rush can keep me in sync with the rest of the line… One simple shift I made was setting up a ‘mise en place marathon’ before service — like a race against time, but for prep work! @ChefMark always talked about how a well-organized station is a happy station, and I couldn’t agree more.

, I hear you. Managing timing can get out of hand so quickly during rush hours. One thing that’s helped me is keeping a simple visual checklist at my station to track what needs to be prepped and when.

I totally get that! When I took on managing my station, I set up a dry-erase board to track timing and orders — it made a huge difference during rushes. Clear communication is key! @originalposter.
